Oban Terrace House FrontWelcome to Oban Terrace you probably have not heard the place as the A to Z calls it Oban Street. It is situated in Felling Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, and I live here.

Oban Terrace is one street which is continuing to benefit from £73m Pathfinder money. Bridging NewcastleGateshead  was set up to tackle the problems of low demand and abandoned housing and improve housing quality and choice in parts of Newcastle and Gateshead.

All streets in this part of the scheme:

We were promised that the renovations would be completed by December 2005 but there was an overrun.  Although, there have been be no structural changes as originally promised Stone Cleaning, wall restoration and railing replacement was contracted and is almost complete,  I am not sure that the council has signed off the work at this date 14 April 2007, at least if they have they have not asked for any input from the residents.

The scheme responded to concerns from residents, and almost 70% of homeowners took part in the scheme, to ensure improvements to the Oban Terrace area.

As well as the above Gateshead Council carried out work on new kerbing and reconstruction of footpaths at the front and have also completed street lighting improvements and the installation of a proper back lane, behind Oban Terrace.

Improvements are now extending outwards from our streets to down to Felling Bypass. The Councils preferred plan  seems to be good for the area bringing it back to how it was back in 1986 when I first moved here, and of course bringing our property valuations back in line with equivalent properties in surrounding areas.
